Polished nickel plumbing fixtures sparkle against the monochromatic marble floor and wall tiles and custom millwork. This Roxbury client lives in a traditional and restored-to-its-original-charm home that needed a bathroom upgrade. When she reached out to Woodman Design, we quickly established the needs and aesthetic wants.

In order to give a little more space to this typical hallway bathroom, we expanded the footprint by approximately 9” into the hallway. We gained the space from a non-functional narrow hallway linen closet. Although 9” doesn’t seem like a lot of space - when working with a small bathroom, every inch counts! This extra 9” allowed us to create a wider counter on the custom Palmer Industries console sink, providing the much needed space for various toiletries.

The custom marble top with the ogee edge is a perfect base for the highlight of the bathroom - a French THG 8” widespread Faucet in Polished Nickel. Behind the console vanity, a custom millwork wall with integrated storage captures the large voids in the deep plumbing wall. In this wall we have gained back the storage from the hallway linen cabinet that was removed. Urban Electric Company sconces in unlacquered brass with handblown glass shades add soft lighting across the elevation.

Across from this wall, the shower has been fully tiled in larger scale Dolomite Marble subway tile. This tile provides the perfect backdrop with grays, taupes, and creams for the Polished Nickel plumbing fixtures. The Dolomite Marble is contrasted with traditional marble hexagon tile on the floor. This contrast adds an element of texture and establishes a very classic foundation in this bathroom.
