Open Concept Kitchen

A closed off dated kitchen was completely remodeled and opened to the family dining room and sunken den in this 1905 Victorian/Colonial home in Waban Massachusetts.

The homeowner's wanted a space that encouraged gatherings both in the space but also opened to their existing back patio. The space was brightened and storage optimized with crisp white shaker cabinets along the perimeter, while a large custom reclaimed white oak island acts not only adds additional storage, but also acts as the central gathering hub. Reclaimed white oak counters on the perimeter compliment the island, but also link the decorative beams at the ceiling. A soft quartz tops the island for a durable surface for meal prep and casual eat-in kitchen meals.

Classic white subway tile with a rich gray grout adds a visual texture against the white cabinetry, but also provides an easy-to-clean surface at the main cooking areas. Modern euro-styled pulls from Emtek in a stainless finish compliment the professional grade appliances, while the island has Schaub hardware in an oil rubbed bronze for a more farmhouse feel. Finally, black pendant lights over the island add a pop of contrast over the central island. The homeowners now have a completely open concept dining, kitchen, and den space which opens up to the patio by two pairs of french doors, in which they can entertain and gather with friends and family.
